Ocean Beach, the heart of Fire Island. Here you can find the movie theater, post office, fine dining and good shopping at the various retail stores. Located in Ocean Beach is the Ocean Beach Youth Group, the day camp which serves all the surrounding communities for children ages 4-12. A lifeguard Bay Beach and ocean and a private boat basin can also be found here. Throughout the summer the village of Ocean Beach sponsors many cultural events. The community has over 600 homes, most predominately traditional classic houses. With a mix of families and singles, Ocean Beach has something to offer for everyone.
Seaview is the family community, located directly east of Ocean beach. Here is where you find both beautiful large contemporary homes, and the more traditional beach houses on larger sized properties. Seaview has six tennis courts, a childrens playground and wading pool located at the lifeguarded Bay Beach, an ocean beach, ball field with organized games for all ages, and basketball court. Along with these are the local Seaview Market and flower shop. For more stores and restaurants, walk west 1/4 mile to Ocean Beach.
Ocean Bay Park, a laid back, relaxed community located directly East of Seaview, with a mix of family and singles. Bayfront dining at two of the four restaurants. The hotel just steps from the Ocean has dining and also a pool. The Fire department sponsors the July 4th BBQ and many other events. With a mix of large homes, and smaller classic beach houses, there is something for everyone.
The Fire Island Summer Club is a two block private family community just west of Ocean Beach. There is a club house, and bay beach available for the families who reside in the community. The homes are on larger properties, making for fewer homes and more privacy.
Corneille Estates is directly west of Ocean Beach. A mix of groups and families comprises this small one block community, with many large contemporary homes. Located here is the Woodhull Elementary School, attended by children from all communities on Fire Island. |
